  Introduction   (Arya Vaidya Sala, main hospital building in Kottakkal, Kerala) Growing up in a village with a population of less than a thousand in 1950s/1960s, I have the memories of always being treated for most of the ailments by my mother using home remedies. It is said that the kitchen of a Bharatiya is a medicine cabinet. He was cured of it completely within six weeks and went on to receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1952 A.D. for his philosophy of 'Reverence for Life'.
